Ovals AI Inc. ("Ovals", "we", "us", or "our") operates the Ovals mobile application. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information when you use our app.

Information We Collect

When you use Ovals, we may collect the following information:

Account Information: Email address, name, or authentication credentials when you sign in via Apple, Google, email, or phone number.
Audio Data: Audio from your device's microphone is processed for real-time speech-to-text transcription. Audio is streamed directly to our speech recognition provider and is not stored by Ovals.
Photos and Documents: If you use the document scan feature, the image you capture is sent to our AI provider to extract its text so it can be used as conversation context. Images are processed for that purpose and not used for training.
Phone Numbers: If you use calling features, the phone numbers you dial and any number you verify as your caller ID are processed to place and route your calls.
Usage Data: Information about how you use the app, including session duration, features used, and subscription status.
Diagnostics: Crash logs and performance data are collected (via Firebase Crashlytics) to fix bugs and improve stability.
Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and app version for troubleshooting and optimization.

Audio Processing

Ovals processes audio in real time to generate captions. In Solo mode, speech recognition occurs entirely on your device — no audio leaves your phone. In Group mode (Voice Identification) and in standalone Apple Watch transcription, audio is streamed securely to our professional speech-recognition provider for real-time transcription. Ovals does not record or store this audio. To keep improving caption accuracy, our speech-recognition provider may use audio in anonymized form to improve its models and services. Ovals does not send your name, account details, or any other identifying information along with the audio.

If you create a custom voice with Voice Cloning, the cloning happens entirely on your device — your voice recordings are processed locally and never leave your phone.

Third-Party Services

We use a small number of specialist service providers to operate Ovals. Data is shared with them only to provide the features you use:

Firebase (Google): Authentication, database, cloud functions, and crash reporting (Crashlytics)
RevenueCat: Subscription and purchase management
Speech-recognition provider: Real-time transcription in Group mode and on Apple Watch (anonymized audio may be used to improve recognition accuracy, as described above)
AI language-model provider: Powers AI features — reply suggestions, conversation summaries, translation, and text extraction from documents you scan. Conversation text and scanned document images you submit are processed to provide these features and are not used for training.
Voice-synthesis provider: Premium text-to-speech voices. Only the text you convert to speech is processed by the provider; it is not used for training. Voice cloning happens on your device and does not involve this provider.
Apple: On-device speech recognition (Solo mode), music recognition (ShazamKit), and in-app purchases

Each provider has its own privacy policy governing the use of your information, and each is bound to use your data only to provide these services. The names of our providers are available on request at support@ovalsapp.com.

Data Storage and Security

Your account information and usage data are stored securely using Firebase. We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data. Conversation transcripts are stored on your device, and — when you are signed in — synced to your private, access-controlled cloud account (Firebase) so your history is available across your devices. Transcripts are never shared with other users or third parties, and you can delete them at any time from the app or by deleting your account.

You have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you
Request deletion of your account and associated data
Opt out of non-essential communications
Export your conversation history

Children's Privacy

Ovals is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
